🐾 Frequently Asked Questions

❓ Are you a disability or therapy provider?

Pawz A While focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of young people through animal-assisted services. While our team has over a decade of industry experience, we are not designated as a disability or specific therapy provider.

❓ Are you an NDIS provider?

No, we are not an NDIS provider. This means our services are accessible to almost everyone, without the need for referrals, interviews, budget approvals, or limitations.

❓ My child/young person is afraid of dogs. Is this service suitable?

While our programs aren’t designed specifically to overcome dog-related fears, we do teach safe handling techniques during sessions, including what to do when approaching or approached by a dog.

❓ My young person is 18 or older. Can they participate?

All our programs are currently limited to school environments - if your young person attends that school then they are welcome to be considered to attend the program.

❓ Can you train or use my dog?

We are not a dog training service. All dogs used in our programs are our own family-raised Labradors, carefully selected for their temperament, training, and experience in wellbeing environments.

❓ Who pays for the service?

Funding varies! Participants have accessed our services through:

  • Private funding

  • FLO (Flexible Learning Options) funding

  • School funding

Please note: As we are not NDIS providers, we cannot invoice to NDIS services.

❓ Can I or my child come and watch a session?

We discourage observers as it can distract participants. All attendees must be students of the host school.

❓ How do I get Pawz A While into my child’s school?

We’d love to explore opportunities with new schools! Please share our information with your child’s school and encourage them to contact us directly. All school-based services must be discussed and approved with the school.

❓ Do you run school holiday programs?

No—we take a break during school holidays to allow our dogs and staff to rest and recharge. We return refreshed and ready to begin again in the new term.
